Alternator upgrade

Post by gphcald »

I have a 98 Hilux diesel with the 5L motor in it. I want to upgrade the alternator to run bigger lights and fridges etc. i have been told by a couple of auto elecco's that it is either very difficult or impossible. does any body know of either some one who can do an upgrade or a replacement alternator.
I am looking at running 4 100W driving lamps, a fridge occasionally and also run a UHF and AM CB so need the bigger alternator
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

yes but then it will just take longer to flatten both batteries.

you could look at adding a second altenator to your system, theres a fair few guys on here that have done this

i would also be very very surprised if there is not an aftermarket altenator which puts out more current.
