Has anyone had any experience with putting extractors onto a 1HZ engine?
Is it worth the cash?
Do they make any difference to the power and/or cabin noise?
What are they worth?

Extractors on a 1HZ engine

I gotta bit of time now.
They were installed along with a 2 1/2 inch exhaust on my 80 and I reckon it picked up a bit of power, but couldn't loose The Fish in a battle on the road (He also has a 80), but noticed a big difference off road where it would stall at a later time, hold gears better and pull better. A noticable difference when climbing hills in low range.
I then installed a K&N air filter coz a mate had one and didn't want it any more. This was done coz I could, not trying for improvement in performance, but it definately helps flow more air.
The misses noticed the noise (80 is her daily driver) but it's not annoying, more a better note. And that counts!!
I got my extractors 2nd hand for $300 and had an exhaust system fitted for $250. So for $550 it was well worth the money.

No Roadranger (unless you call a change between hi & low) but what he means is that you get more outa the car before changing back to a lower gear. Instaed of 2nd being to low and 3rd being to hi, with the motor haveing a wee bit more omph, I can hold 3rd a bit longer, on and off road, which is kinda like having 2nd and a 1/2.
