4runner problems
i recently bought a 95 4runner, got it for a good price so i don't mind spending some money on it. i have a few problems with it but
1) there is a bloody annoying induction whistle that i can't get rid of have tried a new air cleaner, new inlet pipe between filter and throtle body, can anyone sugest a way to fix it?
2)transmission is in need of a rebulid, has alot of whine to it. i plan to pull it down and put new bearing in in xmas hols however toyota parts guys can't find a manual for this model and gregory's don't seem to have a 95 model listing either, can anyone help with this also?
help will be appreciated

I rebuilt my gearbox at the begging of this year, I think the bearing/seal kit was bout $300 from KB Auto.
Not sure what the intake noise could be? Mine does make a noise like your describing that I used to think was induction noises, but it's actually the gearbox, my mates 4runner makes the same noise too!!

The missus works at Toyota so they did if for me. So can't really answer that. As far as I know it's pretty straight foward.

Re: inlet
got excited today and pulled the inlet manifold off, what a pain in the arse that was!, anyway turns out by the look of the old gasket it was leaking. toyota want about $250 for the gaskets needed, and repco want $300 for a vrs kit so i may as well pull the heads off and get the done while i'm this far. found out the centre timing belt pulley bearing is shot also repco don't stock them and toyota want $100 for a new bearing and housing or a local bearing joint wants $80 just for the bearing (these are trade prices) turning into a money pit! trans rebuild kit is $340 from repco and $380 from local bearing joint. will keep you guys posted on how it turns out.
does anyone know specs for the manifold bolts or head studs?

If you need a factory engine/chassis manual and Toyota says there's no more left, you can ring Toyota Customer Service and ask about their photocopying service.
They will work out a price, you send them the dollars and then some poor work experience kid has a lot of photocopying to do!
It took a few weeks and $40 to get a copy of a 22R engine manual. Chassis manual copies (including transmission) were around $100 or something.
Don't bother about a Gregories manual anyway... in mine, the transmission section simply states that you should return your vehicle to the shop to get it fixed
