engineer in brisbane

Post by Ric »

I am after a engineer to get my tires made legal. somewhere around Brisbane.
They are only 31's on a Vitara but i won't have insurance right now because they are illegal.

Thanks Ric

so what do you guys do about insurance? becasue once the car is illegal for onroad use, the insurance company won't pay up.

Buy a trailer and tow it every where!

Like you said once as you do one MOD whether it be larger tyres or a body lift, unless its approved you void all insurance! That includes liability cover!

Try the 4 x 4 insurance. T C I S. somone might have the number on here. I have told them that I have 35's and they insured me. They will only insure upto a 4 inch lift but.

I would look into this a little more. Its true most Insurance companies will say they will cover any mods but if they dont comply with QLD Transport you can kiss your insurance goodbye.

I know NRMA will insure any modifications as long as the vehicle is still roadworthy.

Just over seven hundred a year. The thing is they said they would insure me and they sent me a statement with all mods writen on that statement. So it then became a legal contract. My truck is insured for what I asked it to be insured for including all mods and accessories. Cheers.

I would be asking for it in writing that they will insure an Unroadworthy Vehicle. Insurance companies will try absolutly anything they can to Avoid paying out. And an Unroadworthy vehicle is the biggest excuse they use.

2 mates have made claims on rigs that had larger tires, they were allowed because the size of the tires had no affect on the incident, so unless you roll it or run into someone (less braking effort) you may get away with it.

yep, thats what i have heard. only if its related to braking (larger tyres)then you will get done for all costs. The insurance company will only pay up when its your fault IF the car is road worthy. i can tell them i have 31's on there and they will say i have insurance for theft and fire and stuff but not if i have an accident. because the 31's are not roadworthy on a Vitara, the insurance company won't pay up.
with engineers certificate making the car roadworthy, i will be able to crash my car and get pay from the insurance company.

unless your car is roadworthy, the insurance company WILL NOT pay up!!!

if i take the engineers certificate to the transport department, can i then get it registered with the 31's?

all this is becoming a pain in the ass..

In Qld you cannot have a 'roadworthy' vehicle if you have increased your overall tyre diameter (as stated on the sidewall) by more than 15mm. No engineers certificate will help you.
