coil spring spacer q

i just want to trim the front of my gq wagon up to match the rear and 30mm spacers would do the trick nicely. arb say this is not a safe thing to do. ask why, reply

. this is not a sufficient answer to me. is this just because they don't sell the product? as those who do sell it say it's fine. i've searched and found some who mention using these but no bad reports or problems so just after any thoughts or others experiences before i order some.

No dramas especially on the front.

Put em in correctly and there is absolutely nothing that could go wrong imo.

Even if the fucken thing broke (highly unlikely) I still don't think anything would happen bar losing 30MM of height.

from memory ARB used to sell spring "packers" which I asume would be a kind of spacer ..

I cannot see any reason why they would not be safe the spring only realy see's compression loading and no side load ..

I would do it without hesitation

if you are getting the ones that key in they are fine. a mate just put some in his 80.


the old yellow arb ones were shitty, as theyt are polyurathane and will fall apart in a few years as well as being slimey and hard to align.

what should the spacers be made of then?? nylon?

I've got 30mm ProComp spring spacers in all round and haven't had any problems with them. They're actually 80 series ones in my Disco, and fit fine. Got 2 mates with 80 series with them, and a mate with a GQ with them and they've all had no problems. Your shocks will probably not give enough travel to match the extra 30mm, but if you just need the lift and don't care about articulation, then they're a good idea.

I USED THE YELLOW NOLATHANE ONE (TJ JEEP) IN MY COILY SIERRA.

AS SAID ABOVE THEY WORKED BUT DID FALL APART AFTER A YEAR..

with 30mm spring bind will probably occur before bumpstops work properly.
should drop them by similar amount.

Alternatively look around for some 2nd hand springs. Always some for sale on here.

I've got procomp 30mm spacers in my GQ and can't complain at all, just make sure they're seated properly and you can't go wrong.

Used some in the vitara.... no problems at all.

Might put some in the Mav if I decide 2" suspension lift isnt enough.

i put one in on my front right just to level the car up again while i'm saving for all new suspension.

now the car is level again. and no dramas with them


i reckon they are pretty safe
