The body mounts on my gq are VERY worn and i was wondering would it be possible to go to clarke rubber or somewhere and buy some rubber blocks of similar diameter and density, drill a hole in the middle and place them in between my factory body mounts as a temporary fix?
I can't afford new nissan mounts atm. Just looking for a cheap temporary fix.
Thanks
Rob

Factory Body Mounts

If you see how they work you cant make up bits of rubber to fix them.
I dont recommend cutting the tube.
If you cut a tube on front or second row you will make body sag and increase the chance of cracks. Just overtightening 2nd row can make doors drop.
Also lowering mounts will make body hit chassis at bottom of firewall.
They cost $38 trade.
FYI They use 3 different sizes.
Save your money and buy the whole set. 2 front, 2 intermediate and 6 rear (LWB )

HeathGQ wrote:The bits we're talkin about is not the lift blocks, but the rubber bits underneath... yes???? i've would have the same problem I think. Noisy, like the body is moving around a bit?
The body mounts are rubber blocks with a steel tube down the middle. The rubber wears away with time, and the metal on metal is what slides around causing the clunks and groans.
when u get a price on them, they sound $$$, but working out that they will last over 10 yrs they are cheap as chips and job is done right..
