thanks for the pics bud, that first one is track one, my truck is in the mini rock gorge, you cant see all the rocks in that shot because they are hidden under my truck, V8 grunt had to winch heaps of trucks out of this bit and then up a 25 degree slope through thick deep mud, if you drove this bit you turned left and followed the creek bed to the corner with the big round boulders.
its a pity that photo's never do justice to how hard it really is.

Congrats to Glen and Mick. The event ran awesome. Round 2 should be even bigger.
Alben reckoned we had about 400 cars through the gate. Not too bad, considering the wet weather. I think the change of venue was the best thing that's happened to the ASCC.
It was good to see a few of the "serious" guys come out for a play. Tony Dodds, Kym Bolton, Tony Ryan, Jason Christenson and Pete and Slippery from Landcruiser Mart. (Their 100/75 series was the rollover that they couldn't shut down due to the turbo timer being out of reach.) I think we'll see a few of these guys back for Rd 2.

Glen & Mick, give yourselves a pat on the back for a tough job very well done.
P.S - When do we start setting up Rd 2? :?:

Thanks for that Simon it turned out to be a great weekend it was good that the rain held off. The tracks are all ways harder on the first round we did have a few people saying the tracks were to hard, but what do you do.make a track so easy they pick gears through it .Or stick with the majority and make it hard I say don,t root around JUST DRIVE IT It was a shame it was to bogy in the goerge . But that did,nt matter, just borrowed V/8 grunt rover don,t know what he,s done to it but christ it revs We got trough the mud over the logs 2nd go .NISSANS could,nt get it over at all On the hill climb they were getting up so we changed hills to a bloody steep one.No one got near the top untill kym bolton came along .straight over the top With Nothing to loose found the rover in the car park keys an all lined up on the hill 4000 side step we were over the top before the front wheels came down .R/D2 will be awsome :) :) :)

Glen, mick and all the rest did an awesome job on the weekend especially since the the rain threatened to stuff things up.
I didn't hear one complaint from anyone except me [cant we have more rounds :D ] so thanks to all you guys for making it a great weekend.
Hey glen, do we score an extra 100 points for a DNF like last year?
hmm, maybe that wouldn't work as someone who got a small way before DNFing would get less points than someone who got nearly all the way through before DNFing due to their accumulated points along the way.
I hadn't thought of that before !
Oh well there must be another way of scoring it.
maybe if you started the round with 1000points and deducted your stage points from the 1000.
[ excuse me for thinking out load] so if i got 155 points for stage 1, 90 points for stage 3, 130 points for stage 2 plus say 100 for the DNF.
that makes it 475 from 1000 =525
then highest points win the round and lowest points win the stage.
theres got to be an easier, fair way to do this so just how is it scored ?

Shane a DNF is scored in the following manner.

Any competitor may DNF 1 stage and still place for outright. if a vehicle has pasted the deemed halfway point of a track and then decides to DNF, then that competitor will be scored the same as the hignest recorded score from that stage. that is the score recorded from a vehicle that has fully completed the track.

outright points for end of year are recorded from the 2 best rounds over 3 rounds and the final at mud-bulls in november.

to qualify for entry to mud bulls the competitor must have competed in a minimum of 2 rounds. the final at mud bulls will have a $5000 prize pool for modified only.

I hope this answers your question.

thanks for all the support and compliments, the work put in to run an event like this is huge, but at the end of the day if we don;t have competitors and spectators we don;t have a comp. so thanks for all those who came to round 1.

there is a competitor news letter on the way to the sponsors, competitors and others some time in the next few weeks, this will have all the scores and rankings included.

thanks glen.

i think that a dnf time should be introduced, i think it would incorage people even more to just drive it. also it would stop people being able to repair vehicles on the track, ie tony ryan on track 3 (i think) changing his front cv mid way through the track then kept going.

just my 2c worth

Killalux come on up to the next round and I will put a stop watch on you and we will see how much of your lux is left when you finish if you can. and as far tony ryan is concerned he was DNF. so get your info correct or shut your mouth. if you want a timed event drive to NSW for the winch challenge.

had you entered you would be privy to the drivers breifing then you may know what the go is

Ummm Glen i dont think he was Critisising you or the event i think he was just adding a suggestion from his point of view. As a spectator he may not have known that Tony Ryan had been DNFed.

possibly not tony but as you know timing on the ASCC is not an option and I get frustrated with all the experts who know better. setting up the short course over the last 2 years has been a long hall and mick and I have never made any proffit, the short course was never set up to as a money making venture. our view is anyone with a big wallet can trash a car thru a hardcore track under timing. the idea is to finish without damage, a hard thing to do at the short course. considering the nature of the last tracks used I rally can't see any car completing under the stop watch.

sorry if you take offense Killalux but the short course will never have a stop watch put on the competitors the tracks are hard enough.

i was un aware that tony ryan dnfed that stage, the only real critisim i had was drivers being able to repair vehicles mid course, but i was wrong about that so i apologize. i wasnt sugesting making it timed as in fastest time wins like the winch challenge.

i think it was a great event overall, and i hope i will be able to compete in the next round.

cheers
