4WD Insurance

Post by jasonmcc »

Hi

Just looking for you guys help in finding a good insurance company. Im 22 so im in the under 25 bracket. The car im buying is a 2.8 turbo diesel 97 patrol. I have heard its even hard to find a company that will insure a young person with a turbo diesel 4wd. Also a company that will insure modified 4wd's would be prefered as i want to modify it a bit (big tyres and lift)

Im in Darwin by the way.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I fought the same battle when I dropped the V8 in. I'm 26 but my 22yo brother drives it sometimes.

I ended up going with Just Car Insurance. Its named only drivers but they will cover under 25s. Not the best policy but beggars can't be choosers.

The good news is that my premium only went up $50 from when the vehicle was completely stock and covered by AAMI

But what is your excess now? I found Just Cars wanted something like $800 excess for my Feroza with no rating one protection!!! The policy was also very expensive for not many mods.

AFFINITY RISK PARTNERS 1300 655 850

They gave me a quote on full comp insurance for a 90 sierra softtop with mods (suspension lift, rollcage, bull bar, bodylift, CD player and CB) for $404.18 even without an alarm or imoboliser. This covers me for offroad use as long as tracks are marked on a published map.

Pretty sure DGA have a "must be over 25" age restriction if it's modified...Heather could only start driving the Ferwoaza this year because of that rule

Prices are good tho...costs me $33 a month, full comprehensive, on & offroad etc etc..
