Maybe just me but the I found the stock alt to chew out brushes, so I went for a bosch item that was easy to get a brush pack for and simple to change (have not needed to for a couple of years though) compared to the sealed stock unit.....Was not as simple as just getting the stock one rewound but a better outcome for me with lil fus... ...

Should work good! They should only need the alt, I would assume it would cost a lil more than a reco cos there may be more work involved Ring an auto elec and quiz them they are usually more than happy to explain things to ya.... I bought my reco bosch off the shelf for bout $200 or so can't recall exactly.....

correct me if i'm wrong but the design of the bosch unit means that it's less likely to suck mud, i think.
I went through 4 alternators in 6 months on the vit because of the same problem. Apparantly you can get a deflector sheild off a swift that means it happens less often.
In saying that if Possum hunter's alternator has lasted 2 years with the way he drives, i'd go the same way he did.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
I used a Honda Civic 70amp alt on mine....It didn't like the mud at all...Now I run a 65 amp Chev. Alt. The are a extremely easy to find over here..just my 2cents.
P.s. I'm starting to understand the terms you guy's use..... that can't be good

i was looking(still am actually ) to upgrade my alternator
after getting prices for rewinding - 160-190 bucks and needing it for 2-3 days from a reputable auto sparky
$50 for a KL engine alternator and probably $50 for my mechanic to fit it i guess that is the cheaper option, from what ive read on here the KL alt's fit without any issues
