Stock height

Post by Wanderer »

hi all,

got a '93 Vit LWB 1.6 EFI with an ARB bull bar, i'm trying to work out the suspension. there are Gabriel shocks on the rear, the front struts could be stock and the springs - unknown! i don't think it has been lifted. the tyres are tiny and no two the same brand.....

Does anyone know the roof height of a stock Vit LWB? so far i havn't seen any two Vits with the same height here in the ACT.....

i'd hate to spend $$$$ to find it has after market springs with any sort of lift,

cheers

I probably have stats on a stock SWB springs but not LWB.

The do sag so every one is gonna be a little different.

My suggestion. Take one of the rears out and measure.. should only need the rear shock unbolted.

If it's black and slightly rusty and crap looking it'll be stock. If it's more than 15mm in diameter for the coil then it's probably aftermarket.

If it's 15mm it might be stock for a LWB.

Antt should have some old coils floating around to measure.

If not then ask a place like dobinsons or similar.

Stock heights as measured from the centre of wheel to top of wheel arch.

SWB Front: 457mm
Rear: 480mm

LWB Front: 450-455mm
Rear: 460mm

Don't forget that the ARB bar is heavier and will lower the front measurement and as mentioned age will also cause some sag in the springs. The measurements I posted were what the models measured when given Govt. approval for sale in OZ.

thanks for the info,

i had a read of the Suzuki Vit manual and it states a roof height of 1700mm - got tthe tape measure out & you guessed it........its a weary, tired old stock suspension, actually measures 1620 at highest point!

you guys are right about the front end saging under the weight of the ARB bar - the poor littl' Vit is a bit nose down, the rear looks like it has been jacked in comparision.

cheers

it's easy just go to the big open carpark in civic and find one and mesure it. it might look sus but you can explain what you are doing to any ones who asks.
