Post by Gibbon TSAM »

you undo the drain plug on ther gearbox to drain the gear oil out and a single ball bearing falls out in the oil

first thought was gear bearings, but no other metal bits fell out so any ideas on what this bearing has come from.

oh well now i just have to figure out how to rebuild a gearbox ;)

any ideas where to get the stuff from in brissy?
if ya aint willing to damage it then you shouldn't own it

Gibbon,
zukiny from Singapore.

Cud it be from your 4wd sensor ..? mine has a ball at the ''plunger'' side of the switch that rides on the shaft that carries the h4 & l4 gears.

Reverse switch is in the gearbox.
Could it be the same?

i doubt there would be ball bearings in the gearbox. they should all be roller bearings.

Might be the bearing from the selector if the gearbox is like the transfer case

pull out your reverse , 4th and 5th switches on the top front of your gear box and make sure the balls are still attached, or put the car in reverse if the lights (reverse) come on the switch is ok but check the other 2.
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

Same thing happened to me, but be stuffed if I can remember exactly where we put it back in.... But I think it went back in through the same hole, but we had to lift the shifter to allow it to settle back into place. The boys were the ones fiddling with it, so I'm not quite sure.
