1 litre valve timing

There is two marks in the inside plate for the timing belt. Do I use the top small triangle or large arrow underneath??
Its a wheelbase thing

the marks on the timing gear and the crank gear should be pointing at each other, thats what it said in a manual I read once, I have never used the case markings, tho they should line up, too. make sure no.1 is on compression/firing stroke tdc. Its best to spin engine by hand a couple of times, then recheck alignment..christover
