Coil Spring Question
at the moment im running a 4 inch spring lft in my GQ is it possible to get springs that sit at the same height it is now but offer more downward travel i know your shocks dictate how far they go but my springs will pop out if i go a longer shock, i have enforcer springs at the moment i know probably not the best i was even thinking going to 5 inch i have heard people using a top hat at the top of the coil for more travel what are everyones opinions

what you want is a softer longer spring. the downside to this is they drive badly on road and need replacing every year or two as they yeild far easier. they are also harder to obtain.

you acheive little by doing this. rather hold your coil to the mount. unless its a ramp rig. i wanted to do a similar thing a while back but it leads to more unstability, unpridictability and little benefit as its only the unsprung weight of the diff touching the ground.

so bru you reckon its better to just keep the travel i have rather than trying to go for more downward travel im thinking of putting in 5 inch springs in but you know don't want to go to high because of the unstableness of a SWB
just curious how does doing a action of what is above lead to unstability

leads to unstability as the diff is no longer held under positivly and the truck is free to rock whithin the free space. its more the jerking of the un sprung diff weight than anything. also on extreme off cambers the car droops more.
