WIZARD rumours

Post by big red »

There been a lot of rumours lately so here the latest word from brent,

Wizard is not closing down.
Wizard is not being sued by anyone.[and knows who started that rumour]

Wizard will no longer be selling his suspension bits solely due to liability insurance costs.

He will be still selling his bits for competition use only ... not for onroad use.
[invitation only]
Wizard will still be making custom sliders, bullbars, trays, rollbars, roll cages etc with more emphasis on doing custom work.
Wizard will still be doing chassis chops.
Wizard will now be importing USA sourced lift kits and performance bits and also lowering kits for sports trucks.

That's a bummer, any background to what caused this?

Is he still selling through Northcoast ARB like he has been for a while or what. I heard the rumour from high up the line about him going into some other sort of industry.

There has been one in the USA recently where a 13inch lifted F series was in an accident, and the modded part company has been ordered to pay part of the multi million payout.. so its only a matter of time before lionel hutz here will go for it.

Found the thread..

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... highlight=

Jim Hoebeck,a father of four, was driving with his family back in June 2001 when Franks's F-150 pickup, lifted 13 inches, ran a red light in Escondido, Calif., and slammed into the driver's side of Hoebeck's Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hoebeck, 41, was killed instantly.

Although Franks was convicted of drunk driving, a civil jury found that the modifications to his pickup had made it more dangerous and ordered the suspension lift-kit manufacturer, Trail Master Products, to pay about two thirds of the $3.3 million awarded to Hoebeck's family.

all my gear except a frame is wizard. what bugs me is that people expect to bolt on a five link and drop in 7" coils and still drive it like a ricer. you need to check it constantly as the lock nuts work loose as well as have respect for what negative mods to road handeling these are. i got mine mod plated etc but i guess at the end of the day that means squat as far as his insurance company costs etc and litigation is concerned.

i had a threat of litigation a few years back when a chick (a friend at the time) hurt herself on my ski boat i a freak accident where the rope sprung back. as i was not insured the case ceased luckily. i am insured now but know that it is probably worse for me.

there is nothing worse than such a threat and i know why brent is concerned to do buisness in the current climate.

i wonder if cheezy, big balls etc will be sadly forced to follow suit

upsetting news. thanks to brent for making custom and advanced suspension componentry available, hence playing a vital role in the birth of our sport

cheers bru

if he's getting into mini truck scene i'd be very careful. the boys in blue have taken a real shine to them i've just been told of carter customs (mini truck workshop here on the coast) being raided by the police defecting every car in the shop. going through his paper work and pinging every car he's worked on or was booked to work on.
