brush bars becoming illegal?

Post by rockcrawler31 »

right, i'm probably gonna sound a little silly here. I am working in the states and i don't have a chance to watch the news at the moment.

I have heard a rumour from a friend at home that the qld governent is trying to make side bars illegal or some crap. something to do with nothing supposed to protrude past the sides of the guards in order to cut down on damage to other cars

any one know if there is any truth to this or is my mate full of s*&t.

Qld is actually banning four wheel drives.

They have been deemed unsafe and not in accordance with rule 4.26 of the ADR.

There is some government buy back scheme that allows barinas to be purchased at below cost price...

sucks hey!

Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!

maybe i could buy a unimog chassis, stick a moke body on it and register it as a passenger car.

at least the visibility would be good up to about 30 metres away then everything would disappear under the front

The worst thing about it is that it is happening as of the 1st of Novemebr with a 60 day buy back period. After that the vehicles are deemed as illegal for on road use.

Mines and government departments are exempt as long as they lodge an exemption application with the relevant authourities before 01.01.05. After that any new vehicles required by them will need to pass a test on their neccesity level.
