I spoke to colin from brawn and he told me $345 per tyre none of this $300 rubbish.
Also the xtreme would wear out way to quick on the drive to the bush, they are too open in the middle for any on road use
i was heavily concidering selling mine & getting a set but now i won't after seeing them

BRT to the rescue again. My tyres were landed as sponsorship, hence there was no invoice. I apologise for the discrepancy in retail pricing but it was the price advised to Brawn via the Vic distributor...who later changed the price going into the show.
So when did you see them BRT...as I was at the show for 90% of the time and have been looking forward to meeting you?
No one ever said that they were a long lasting hwy tyre...what did you expect?...They will wear the same as a Simex! Funnily enough the response from most at the show was very positive considering the complaints of the Simex clogging through the centre.

They diddn't look too bad, not as wide as the pick shows (they look narrower than my 34x11x16 JT2's on 8 inch rims). The sholder lugs don't hang out as far as the Simex as well. I like the little lugs on the sidewall (AKA swamper). I'd like to see the wear life compared to a Simex and then I'll make up my mind.

Just got my pedes (35X11.5) engineered for an '89 60 series for on road use no prob's. RTA & ins. co. know about them as well.
The Silverstones look like they have wider spacing of the centre lugs, which IMO would wear out quicker on the road, and they look a lot more open in the side lugs as well, so again , IMO, would probably clear better in mud. What about side wall stability for high speed ?? That was one coment by the engineer about the Simex tyres, in that how good they were on the road, tramlining, breaking etc.

Yes the centre section is more open & might not clog up with mud as easy, but what i was saying is that they will wear out quickly just on the drive to go wheeling.

Well, we gave them a hammering today and least I say I am impressed. I have driven on the older 35 inch Silverstones for over 5 years now and have always been pleased with their performance having also used swampers and JT2s. I am happy to admit their limitations when compared to the Simex but I did feel that in deep goo they were a little better.
...BUT...the new Silverstone Xtremes are the most traction I have ever personally driven on.
Far out, today we crawled steep rocky, rutted, uneven shaley shit that I have never been able to get up before...and did it easily without lockers.
One particular hill, I have seen 39 swampers at medium pace get up and 33 muds at light speed get stuck 3/4s...We crawled all the way to the top.
Found them to be great on rocks, gravel, bitumen, mud and sandy loam but on crushed rock in a quarry they seemed to dig too well and buried themselves.

Under the ADR's it is illegal to fit a bias ply tyre to a vehicle not originally offered with them by the manufacturer.
So ALL BIAS PLY TYRES ARE "LEGAL" for road use if DOT approved, but cannot legally be fitted to 4x4's that weren't specced with bias ply tyres. So that is every 4x4 made after about 1985 (or even earlier).

The MT117 comes in a 35x11x16, the MT117 Sport comes in a 33 equivalent (33x12.5x16)...the MT117 Xtreme comes in a 35x10.5x16 only at the moment.
No one else has the Xtremes as they have not landed in Oz yet. I have been sent the first sets outside of Asia to test here.
Within 4 months they should be available in 35x10.5x15, 33x9.5x16 and 15.
The 35x12.5x16 Sport has also been designed but I have no idea on ETA.

i wasn't knocking the offroad performance of the tyre as 4 that they would be sweet, but my concern is the on road, they must handle like crap on road right? also what pressure did you run on / off road??? As that makes a huge differnce.i would imagine that you would have to keep em relatively soft still say 30psi for on road use to keep the rubber on the road & to avoid driving mainly on the middle lugz.
With the sports i run em between 35 - 50psi on road, depending how much patience i have when pumping em up & they handle well as they have the continuos middle runner, i drop em down to between 10 - 15psi offroad & they flex well.

from what i felt (sitting in the back seat) they handle really well on road at 40 psi and they did really well off road at 20psi, when we got to the bush the tyres still had the little hairs on them i might get a set when they get here
Onroad they were great but there was noticably more flex from the shoulders when cornering

I dropped into NETA tyres in Bris last week to say hi to the Qld Silverstone distributor...the Xtremes landed Monday up there and went striaght out. Only 50 tyres though, same as the other states.
We have been running our set now for a while on Bitumen...ok only 500km but we will see how they go.
