Jump Seat for a 40
Just purchased my first 40 . Will be posting some pics soon. I'm chasing a jump seat for the back of my new FJ 40. Wondering what is the best, heard a Suziki serria back seat fits. Also where do you get them certified. Any help would be great.

I would have thought it would also depend on what sort of roll over protection you would have there too. My roll bar is the usual /| shape to suit my soft top that comes down on a slant. (hard to explain, hope u get it). So there would be very little protection for any rear passengers. My 40 came with a rear seat (not fitted though) but I just bolted in a toolbox coz I dont plan on modding my rollbar and soft top to carry passengers. If you like drop me a pm and u can come have a look at the seat I have. I dont have seat belts for it though.
Im here for the sausage!

go a suzuki seat i think, atleast they split fold.
dunno what mines out of. its not a split fold but folds.
but im thinking of taking it out too cos i dont carry people, the spare tyre (35") takes up alot of the seat.
dont worry about engineering it!!! or if you do get heaps of shit done at once.

I think ive got the same problem as ray185 with the factory roll bars but mines a hardtop and I haven't found an old jumpseat yet...
anyway.. the guys a got the 40 off had put in recaro's and had kept the phat half of the front bench seat. I've just used some existing holes re-inforced with a 2"square bit of steel from bunnings and the other side used one of the roll bar mounts+bolts.
For the overhang I used a bit of curtain rod bent into a rectangle and bolted to the floor and under the seat so it had a little support when it was in use.... is that what you'd call booty fab?
Needless to say I never got it mod plated, although my rego sez ive got a 3 seater and my mod plate sez 2 so who knows ..... maybe i dont need one!
The old seatbelt is attached to both seat mounts. i had it in for a few months and it only got used a handful of times but it still kinda worked. I think the person sitting in the back was pretty high up and occasionally might of hit their heads on any bumpy stuff but i hated being a taxi anyway.. so bugger em!
