Basicly what a widetrack kit is actually just a disc brake spacer and bolts.
You use the IFS wheel hub on your solid front and get + 3 inch width and use the spacers to get the discs back lining up with the callipers.

Yes I often think that they are wheel spacers put on the inside of the disc instead of outside.
Unlike wheel spacers tho you can get these engineered in NSW or so I've heard.
I have near new set in shed with the IFS hubs..... was selling them but I think they might come in handy for something in future.

You can run the caliper on the inside with a bit of machining and that gives you the 1.5"

www.sky-manufacturing.com makes a kit as well. Though they're in the States (Oregon). May be more $$ than what you would pay down unda, but they do atleast have some good pics of what the kit entails and what it looks like etc, etc. Have at it: www.sky-manufacturing.com. Click on Toyota at the left, then click on Axle/Differential, then scroll down to Axle Widening Kit.

They show it as for the Mini Truck (Hilux) but it's been fit to a couple of FJ60s and an HJ61 so far without any worries (obviously). Makes it nice and easy to add and clear the larger 4runner calipers up front.

I am thinking the same type of kit could be used on FF rears, though instead of the IFS hubs or the stock hubs, you would want to use the 80 series rear hubs. The disc stuff wouldn't swap, but IIRC, the 80 hubs will bolt on, but the WMS is farther out so it would match (or be near) the width of that of which had the IFS front hub swap done. Then you would have tons of room back there to figure out some rear discs.

When you use the kit, what bearings do you use to install the IFS hubs on your 79-85 (US models) solid axle? Most guys in the states use this or an 'outside the hub' wheel spacer on the front axle to make the WMS 58 inches - matching the width of a 86+ V6 truck G294 rear axle they've installed.

IMHO the SKY or down under kits are superior because the brake rotor is spaced back to match the caliper and places less stress on a properly spaced (engineered) wheel hub than outside wheel spacers do.

If I were to run this kit I'd also replace the brakes with '81+ vented FJ40/60/61 rotors and 89+ IFS V6 front calipers.

I think (not 100%) all Hilux front wheel bearings are the same IFS or solid.
You do need a different sized seal which is included in the kit.

This seal is a Toyota part number or speciality item? Seal for the inner bearing on the hub?

Its a Toyota Gen part and you can use the origanal seal if its still good
