minor brake issues on vitara
minor brake issues on vitara
i don't know if this is actually a problem with my brakes in general, or just my rear drums.
the rear of my vit is lifted about 3" over standard, i think, and i have not yet made a spacer to lift the 'a' arm back up.
anyway, its either my rear drums are not working properly, or the braking system is not working properly. reason why, is, on wet roads, and on gravel, i seem to lock the front wheels up a lot more, (compared to the old pre-lifted days)
yesterday, i did an endo at an intersection. some silly old lady indicated to turn, was going to turn, and then decided she didn't want to anymore. so i had to go heavy with the anchors, and instantly after, i felt the rear tyres come off and HIT the road again. kinda sh!t myself a bit.
the only other cars i've seen do endos, are lotus elise, and mini minor/cooper.
is this a problem with braking? or not?
thanks for any help
steve

oh yeah, and when i tow a trailer laden, the vit stops pretty good, but still locks up in the wet.
and someone mentioned something about the rear brake proportioning valve, is that the thing hanging off the right side of the a arm?

i dont mess with my brakes too much - its a job i let the mechanic do...

After I lifted mine I found the same problem, I had to elongate the hole to allow more adjustment. All fine now... makes quite a bit of difference..
