Yep sure have and i am wondering which to go. I thought the wood might be something a little different. Interested to see what the good people of OL think. Any other ideas would be appreciated ;) For pics of how it is now go HERE

Wood looks cool, but it's as practical as poo. Go the alloy or leave as is.

As a carpenter i say go wood. I have done a couple of trays for there 1tonners, all custom desinged. They use them for everything, from show to carrying things. They just have a sheet of 3mm perspex to protect it whilst they arnt at car shows.
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)

Probably leave as is. I got tube tray made for my truck, and it looks OK with no mudguards/ flaps, but reality is that you have to have em, and it's very hard to blend them in with the tray. I'm considering going back to styleside 4 mine, custom of course.

definately go tray. i'd say wood.

i like the idea of your panel woes and just cut that bit of the car off. soon you won't have any body work :D

I've got 3mm steel checkerplate,so go the plate.i've only put it in recently,the wood was rooted,bloody holes in it everywhere.

Definantly go a wood tray.

Make up a frame out of chunky C section, or RH Section.. and then some nice jarrah or redgum. Tough as nails and looks the shiate :D

My mates got a red middy in wollongong to which he made into a middy with a tray back, ie closed the cab so it's a proper single cab, custom tray, I'll get some pics this week for you if you want some ideas.

Could u source a cheap 75 series body? That way just hillybilly bottiefab a tray back up? And the new cab might have a straight panel on it :P :finger:

Cannot believe the overwheling majority towards the checker plate tray. Still not entirerly sure but i think i may have to disagree with you all on this one.

I'm a big fan of marine ply with marine carpet, over timber etc., get home hose it, good as gold, starts to fade, not much to rip it off and get new stuff, compared to cutting, drilling, welding, grinding, :bad-words: more work.
Try not to let your mind wander...It is too
small and fragile to be out by itself.
