Best value 4 inch lift kit for GQ
Best value 4 inch lift kit for GQ
I am purchasing a gq ute or shorty in the next week or so and was wondering what the best lift kit on the market was for both price and quality. I want to run 35's so i think 4 inch should be enough lift???
cheers any help will be greatly appriciated.

go the dobinson kit. They are good.
JK (dirtpigs) runs them and hes quite happy with them.
Mind you a 4 inch lift you'd most likely need castor plates.

...what's the story with dobinson shocks...any good?
am looking at their 4" coils & shocks also...and it makes sense that they should be matched right?

goto artic cool treads in Brisbane, i only paid $1500 for the lot fitted 4 procomp shocks i believe they use kings springs, adjustable panhards castor plates and a steering dampener
This deal sounds awesum!!
I follow it up. Might have enough left over for a locker now

Gday mate!
Go Dobinson, have had that on the GQ running 4 inch, but the bushes flogged out in 40 thou. Get the caster correction plates. Really good suspension.
Got dobinson in the GU, have 3 inch at moment, cost 700 fitted (no castor plates/panhard rods needed). Going the 4 inch need a little extra clearance under steps and will level out camper trailer.
Good luck!

If it burns...you can smoke it!
I run Dobinson coils on my truck with procomp explorer shocks.
I was told that they don't make dobinson shocks.
The combination is excellent! It flexes awesome.
I jusst got some castor plates cut at the local engineering company.
Anyway, I'd buy them again.

Tough dog shocks are pretty good so far on my rig. Mind you the Meglift springs are sagging on the passenger side after 8 months and castor bushes are trashed.
Does anyone have a profile for the castor plates for a 4"? If I can get one I will have them cut out and fit the things.
As for that deal with panhard rods etc for $1500, thats a bargain!

I know its far, but you can give Cheezy Racing in Melbourne a call.
He did a 4"lift and guard chop(including flares), looked after springs, shocks everything on a mates GQ shortyfor about $3500 drive in -drive out, I think....
He already has a 2" body lift and now it should have enough clearance to run 37's!
Cheezy's work is top notch. Longer rear arms, and cut & re-weld front diff ( no dodgy castor plates), drives great on road (no shimmy or vagueness) and FLEXES ITS ARSE OFF IN THE BUSH!!!
Either go to www.cheezyracing.com.au or call (03) 9762 9032
Might save ya heaps of stuffing around, and allow to get down here and play in real mud....
