Ok before anyone says anything, this not for a fourby although i guess the same rules apply.
I'm looking for a liquid sealant to use to fix a re-occuring sump seal leak on my wifes toyota camry.
It was patched up by the dealer and has never been the same since. Just wondering if anyone could reconmend a product???

RIGHT STUFF. Its Black and is a urethain based sealant. You will need to remove the sump and clean the surfaces but once you use this stuff you will never have a leak again. Just hope its not you that needs to remove the sump again as it sticks like you wont beleive.
It comes in a Can and has a little spout sticking out of the top. Cant remember the brand but any good auto part shop will have it. Its about $40 though. Just ask for Right Stuff sealant.

Ultra Blue gasket sealer, you can get this from all moter parts reatailers. Don't accept anything less.
If you want anything better go to your local Catapillar dealer & get the stuff which seals the crankcases on their engines. It will never leak again if applied correctly.
They dont have a gasket by the way from factory & its best not to fit one even though you can buy them from Repco. If the surface between the block & sump is ok then it will seal with the correct sealant.

man you are better off using the toyota stuff
1 remove all the old gasket off , buff the pan edge with the wire wheel on the grinder
2nd clean the block throughly then carbie clean the block & pan surface ,
then your laughing , should not leak from there , just tighten the sump up even , never had one leak on me yet .

I used the blue stuff on my panel van and didn't have a problem. For my diffs etc I am using one that I cant remember the brand of. Named "formed in place gasket" and I use it at work too, it should also be suitable for sump pans,

The Catapillar sealant is the best I have used & I have used almost all types during my time in the trade.
I had an IT250 which was warped around the bottom of the barrel & would spring a leak while I was out on a ride. Rather than pull the sleeve and machine it (cost prohibitive on an old bike) I made a slightly thicker gasket and sealed it with Ultra Blue. Doing this I would get 3 rides before the fuel impregnated the sealer (around the inlet ports). So I went to CAT & so happens they do a fuel resistent sealer. Didnt touch it again until I melted a piston 2 years later (damn Lubrimax oils).
Bodgy way to do it but it worked and saved me a couple of hundred dollars on an old bike which was near the end of its life.

They have about 10 different types. I don't know the part number as it is at home.
You can go to the spares section of the CAT dealer and look at the specs and they can help you select the one you need. We did this when I built the last Gutlux gearbox. I have used Toyota selant which is good but this stuff is better.
