New rockcrawling series - WE Rock Australia
Moderator: evanstaniland
Go WE Rock
As we slowly get hunted of the streets and out of National parks, this is a real good move for the sport of 4x4.
Hopefully this really takes off and allows people who at the moment are doing buggies as a pastime or on the side create a full time profession and we'll be able to get frames etc. of the shelf, and the more it grows possibly some cost benefits to competitors and organisers ie. insurance parts, facilities, as it becomes larger and more recognised, way to go
Any chance of a Freestyle class, where bunting and times are not so important, just ability and technique to drive something that looks undrivable (just dribbling, sorry)

Try not to let your mind wander...It is too
small and fragile to be out by itself.

I can wait until Monday to talk to Sam.
In the States, we have a couple of differnet event styles.
First is the Trials type of competition with stops, back up, cones, etc....
Second there is Rock Racing, which has two differnet forms:
1. a trail type of run up a wash or regular trail, fastest time wins.
2. a man made course in an arena, where time is the factor.
We have discussed a free style competition, the biggest problem is that it is so subjective, who is to say what really makes the best run...
We will be doing some cross county type events, with a combination of pavement, dirts road sections, extreme trail sections, and whatever else we can find or think of....
The last will be my favorite, an all around event.

Yea - soon. Just want to wait for the rules to get sorted and confirm a couple of competition dates.
Looks like finally we are going to see rockcrawling at a venue near Sydney

Got a couple of questions if someone could clear them up for me
Was going to question the 9000 pound winch rule but i'm cool with that now, going to rear mount it and run cable/rope through eyes to the front housing.
The rule that states front and rear diffs must have 100% locking devices, i guess this is pretty self explanitory huh, so no traction control ?
I highly doubt i'll be ready for the first round in march but 100% definatly ready as hell for the second round...When will registration forms come out and will it be ok for me to not compete for the first round but be in it for the other three. I realise missing one round will be a huge loss of points for the season but if it happens it happens.
That's all for now. Jeremy

Just another quick question about the new comp.
Reading the rules that i got form the we-rock site,They are asking for DOM seamless tube.
IS THIS GOING TO BE ENFORCED HARD IN THE FUTURE???
As if so then i would say most people are going to have to build new frames,as the majority that i know off are only built in black pipe..

I read the rules as
"Round steel tubing (D.O.M Preferred)"
So black pipe will be fine.

Winches need to be 6000lb minimum.
Traction control will be fine - it is 100% locking in terms that it can make both wheels turn at the same speed.

Cool that's good. What about the whole registering to compete but not being able to for the first round ?

RUFF wrote:Sam if you are using a winch to control suspension it does not have to be 6000pound correct? As long as you are not winching the vehicle with this winch?
I see what you mean. Basically you can use whatever you want to control the axles but you need one winch minimum 6000lb capacity for self recovery.

We arnt totally sure how many rounds we will be running and how many will count towards series points.
Im thinking that everybody should be able to miss one round and still be able to gain the maxium series points but this hasnt been totally determined yet.
Sam
I have been reading the rules and thinking and reading the rules and thinking more...
But i would like to clarify something...
For the legends class... Must you use rhs chassis and is there an amount that has to be used??? Like from the front to the positiion of the rear axle or whatever?
cheers,
Joel
