BRAKE HELP!!

Post by KaMo »

good evening...have a HJ61 cruiser with those *&^% ass drum brake things on the back end. Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on why the self adjusting mechanism on the rear right drum would be adjusting up so tight that it is stopping the wheel from rotating freely. Would an unevenly worn shoe be causing the problem??? I keep backing the self adjuster off so i can drive around daily. But within 4 days of general driving is back to its same old tricks.

Thanks in advance...

Could be a dud wheel cylinder.

I would say just strip the whole lot down, clean it real good, lube it all, and put it back together, see how that goes.

Don't go too nuts with the lube though, it might dribble over you shoes, but at least you wouldn't have the wheel lock-up problem!!

Is this happening after appling h/brake or just general brake application.Have u looked in the L/H side to check the pulley and short cable are still in working. It could be appling the handbrake to only the R/h side. Also check the steel brake line's. You need to know if it is the slave cyl holding the shoes out or the handbrake.
I'm not stuck I'm over here!
Watch where you driven!!!
