you need something a bit more capable than normal for places like that

tony and rod weren't competing, like shane said, they were there for recovery, and rod was gonna stay out there for the run the next day. but he broke it and had to go back to sams to fix it anyway

Pete, there were no buggies on the Logan Night Run. I believe Tony (RUFF) had, or was planning on, having his out there as a recovery vehicle on a CP, but that's very different to competing. Our insurance policy will only cover us if the competing vehicles hold a current registration as a passenger vehicle. I'm not sure where you heard that there was buggies on the run, but don't believe it, as it's simply not true.

Thanks mate.

No Probs Marshy. A few of the posts read a bit like the buggies were competing. Glad the run went well for you guys

Looks like I have suffered from foot in mouth again. Pete as you now know we did have a buggy or two there but they were trailered in and simply placed strategically as potential recovery vehicles in a couple of difficult spots and did not do the actual run. I am very grateful to Tony and Rod for doing that favour for us.

I didn't mean to upset anyone with the "neither one would want to be at the other" comment I was only trying (poorly obviously) to point out that we were catering for different tastes and it probably had little effect on who showed up at either run.

Just one question
What happen if someone was injured or vehicle was damaged by the buggy doing recovery :?:

The way it was put across at the Assc Rep meeting is the vehicle performing the recovery is responsible for all damages caused

It may be worth while re-thinking the unregistered vehicle thing.

You know, for twenty years the Logan Club ran night runs once a month for eleven months a year without incident until people started asking questions just like this. If you don't want to know the answer don't ask the question, any wonder the sport is in strife.

Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own actions and acept the fact that what we do can and usually does eventualy result in some kind of vehicle damage. Most people accept this and go about fixing their vehicle and getting back out on the tracks.

It will get to the point where no-one will take the time to organise anything because someone will want to take a shot at them everytime they do. Not one person who did the run has complained to me.

I think in the future I will stick to driving with the many mates I have as each and everyone of them is grown up enough to own up to their own resposibilities and I sure as hell won't be held responsible for damage to someonelses car if they get stuck because if what you say is true I won't even hook up the strap.

I've confirmed that if both clubs are associates and events are advertised at respective GM's prior to the event then members liability insurance is covered. You don't need to be members of both clubs. This may help with future inter-club runs. (Basically the one run is a 'club run' for all clubs involved).

Talking about interclub stuff, (talks with an old croaky crone voice) 'way back in the late 1980's when we first joined the Suzuki Club, half the cars on the night run were Logan club members & vice versa at the Logan club runs. Some were even members of both. Most non-members didn't go on more than 1 or 2 runs without joining up of their own free wil.' We need to get back to basics...if you go on a run you do so of our own free will & that whatever happens is your responsibility alone.

Those were the days Becky. I was there with you guys and it was a bad night if we only had 25 vehicles show up.

It all went south due to the greed and fast buck mentality of the Australian citizen's new found sue mentality.

To be honest with you if your the kind of person who would sue Maccas for slipping on a chip on the floor and landing on your arse or sue a 4wd club because someone tried to recover your sorry butt and dented your vehicle then I don't want to know you anyway. It makes me sick to the stomach.

have to agree... people not taking responsability for there own actions and insurance hassles because of it have ruined so many competitions, 4wd parks and access to a lot of areas that it makes it very hard to run anything at all without the fear of losing everything you have.

I have come up with a strategy though ...

stay deep in debt and don't own anything

has worked so far :D

Guys, further to our discussions on club trips we would like to try it for a while. If you list the first Saturday night of each month as a club trip to a Logan night run in your magazine we will do the same for your night runs. We just need to know in advance when they will be. Marshy is keen to see this happen as are the members so lets see if we can make it work. We will let you know if there are any changes to dates and I am pretty sure all the NRs will be posted on this site so you will know the starting point. Talk to Marshy as he is a really helpful guy and has a far better idea of what is happening and when than I do.

Thanks Andy.

Like Andy said, we have done a little research into this, and it looks as though we can have non Logan members on our runs. But there are conditions. One, they must be a current financial member of a club that is a member of the QAFWDC. Two, our night run has been mentioned at the other club's previous GM, and advertised in their previous month's magazine. And three, all non-members must adhere to the rules and regulations of the Logan Club while attending one of our runs. That means all the usual stuff like no alcohol, no drugs, etc, etc. These rules and regs, and also a disclaimer are read out at the beginning of every run, and must be listened to. This also means, that if we have organised an "Extreme" run, and we specify twin lockers, or anything else, we mean it. Vehicles will be scrutineered, and if you don't pass, then you'll be asked to kindly leave. We specify these things for a reason. We don't want a vehicle on the run that is quite obviously going to have problems getting through the course. It only holds up the night for everyone else. Remember, we know what obstacles are on the run, therefore we are in a position to make the call. I know this will, and it has, upset a few people, but we have to make rulings in order for things to flow. We don't want every run going until the sun is coming up.
Basically, for another club to attend our night runs, in insurance terms, it would be the Joe Bloggs 4WD Club, doing a club trip on a night run hosted by the Logan District 4WD Club. Therefore, members of the Joe Bloggs 4WD Club, would be covered under their own insurance policy for liability, not the policy of the Logan 4WD Club.

Like Andy said, we would really like to get the inter-club thing going again. It's a good way of all getting together and doing what we love, and also gives bragging rights between clubs. For those that remember, the old 'Battle of the States' competitions at Emu Creek used to be an blast. Being able to compete against other clubs, and also against NSW, was an awesome format. I know our night runs aren't at that sort of level, but we can certainly get a bit of inter-club rivalry going on.
If any other clubs have any queries, just PM me, or email me.

Andy or Simon..... I dont speak on behalf of the GC Club, but I would interested in combined runs. You both know Bruce and Murray, so give either a call and see what they think about the idea... I like the idea of more inter-club runs... we are all here for the same purpose ;)

It is great seeing clubs working with each other. It builds unity and ligthens the work load of organising events. Great stuff.

The Caboolture club did this with the Logan Club last year and we had a great time driving on tracks we have never been on and areas we just don't know about, I hope to run some up our way next year so you get to play on the northside stuff.

Battle of the states or battle of the codes? I know that Strange Rover has asked me to ring around my old winch challenge buddies looking for trucks to enter Battle of the Codes at Rover park.

Battle of the States used to be held at Emu Creek. The Logan Club always had a good showing with Rod Reardon, Al Tierney and I shareing the top three in the Rock and Log slog with Allan Duncan for two years in a row. :D :D The ladies in our club always took home the spoils as well. Those were great days.

So as fars interclub stuff goes, bring it on and come one come all.

Yes I remember. I was trip leader for an Ormeau run I lined up with Simmo and Spoony. That was a lot of fun. :D :D
