I used two fans off the front of a rear whell drive celica (they are for the air con on the celica) 1 came in the car I got the motor out off and the other cost me $10. I had to fab up mounting brackets which was real easy. Never even looked like over heating.
Where the f#@k did that come from

if the gen1 hiux has the same opening for the rad as the gen 2 then you will be able to fit 2 10" fans. a little cutting of the tin that stops airflow and you could get those fastenersw that go through the radiator finsto hold them in place. my two are working perfectly and that is without and engine fan. i have one new davies and one second hand. all up they cost 180 which included temperature switch. Thermo fan for the lux

Post by Elmo »

A fan from a VR or VS commodore will work well, I fitted one to my mates lux, and threw out the engine fan, and it runs cooler now than before. You will just have to make up a couple of brackets to finish the job. Fan cost $50 from any wrecker.

You are all legends, thanks for all the helpful ideas.
i have since found that the last owner had taken the thermostat out, hopefully the new one will help keep it all cool.
Does any one know what temp a holden v6 is ideally sposed to run at?
Cheers everybody

Would the themo's out of a AU falcon fit? I htink they are smaller then the EL fans, might be 2 x 10inch.

You can get 2 new fans with cowling for $180 or something similar
