Snorkels for sierra
Snorkels for sierra
I have searched but no answer to my question.
What have people done to the original airbox/ hot/cold switch thing. I know the airbox has a hole underneath for water out and also dunno how good the seal around the top is.
I am thinking of getting rid of it and putting in a hose straight to the airbox. is this how's it been done?
I am going for the exhaust tube route. Do you just tek screw through the a pillar to attach in onto the body?
thanks

I used a 1.0 litre air box, just used a rubber hose from snorkle to airbox inlet.
Was easier to fit than using the 1.3 air filter, and has a manual hot/cold switch over....
my snorkle stays turned on until winter (when carby ices if I run snorkle at hi speeds)
my snorkle is bolted at top of window, onto side of panel and a bolt thru the panel towards the front....will hunt fer pix

Btt.
Anyone else got some pics?
How does the snorkels you buy (airtek) look inside the bonnet??
Thinking of getting hold of a commodore box and retrofitting it in for air sealing, i think it would be better.
PS: Anyone know what commo this airbox is from or are they all the same.
cheers

this is a VL airbox, looks very similar to that, I'm not sure where the AFM mounts on other Commodores.
There is a small snorkel at the bottom to let air in from the front of the car, also it doesn't feel like it would seal anyt better than the zook one and there is a lot of boltholes at the bottom.

Hmmm, maybe the silicon can come out to play.
Nice size airbox anyhow. I thought efi ones flow and seal better but maybe not.

Now gotta see if this is a commo airbox and look around for some cheap.
cheers
Ive got 1 and half of these with most of the pipe work! 1 came with the motor for my conversion and the other half is from my commodore that now has factory cold air induction! Id say that they would easily be 'sealled'! Come grab them for cheap if your interested!
Cheers
This is the filter/snorker install I had when I had the original 1.3 in there .
I have just removed that engine so will have to make a new one again . Full storey here
