Hi All! I've recently sold my s14 200SX and bought a Black Feroza 92 Model.What was I thinking all my friends asked! Answer: I somehow got the 4X4 bug and I cant wait to work on this momma! Am slowly doing it up. Am a newbie when it comes to 4Wding, any tips would be great

hey fearroza, welcome to the board! make sure you browse through the FAQ, tons of info there! ok i'll try to answer the confusing part, maybe dave can clearify it for you better. you have a feroza, in the states its called a rocky. you also have a rocky, but its more commonly known as the aussie rocky because it is a totally different truck, with a desial engine, solid axles, different gearing, and a different body. specs are also all different, and no they are not interchangeable sadly! the sportrack is the euro name for feroza if i remember correctly. as for wide/narrow track, i believe a 300 is narrow and 310 is wide? or you can simply check by looking at your fender flares. if they are less than 2 inches, then you have a narrow track, if its more than 2 inches, its a wide track! thats off of the front fender flares mind you. you can fit 235/75/15 on the rims no problems, but you would have to lift the truck. how do you asK? check the faq..... ok seriously, tighten torsion bars, remove sway bar, and you should be ok. but if you want more breathing room, slap on a 2 inch body lift as well.. thats what i suggest anyways. you'll lose major gearing though so theres some tradeoffs. i personally just deal with it. take a look around, and feel free to ask questions.

F300 is a narrow track as PV said. An Aussie Feroza = USA model Rocky = UK Sportrak (model designation F300 for narrow track; F310 for widetrack). The Aussie Rocky = not released in USA = UK Fourtrak (model designations are F70, F85 etc IIRC??).
So what model F300 have you got- it's only a couple of months older than mine.
Be wary of the laws relating to mods like larger tyres too; they can make your vehicle unroadworthy and technically void your insurance coverage.

Only the british use the name Sportrack for the feroza (Fourtrack for the Rocky). Some rockies and feroza's were shipped to Italy where they got BMW engines. They came under the name Bertone Freeclimber 1 and 2 resp. due to import restrictions in Italy. They're quite rare and go for prices comparable with cruisers over here.

i would love to get my hands on one of those bad boys!!!!!! hey theres a nice power upgrade fellas... wonder if the engines also come with an entirely different driveline... hmmm.... different gearing, different transmission.. different transfer case possibly? someone find the specs on these suckers quick! wonder if any one of us could get our hands on one of those engines (or entire driveline if needed)........ man if i knew they could be THAT nice i'd have tried to buy one.... shipping and all. just think of the power and torque the inline 6 would have... not to mention the strength of the bmw backing.....

Too bad.... drivelines are the same for both teh FC1 and FC2. Only engines differ. The I6 would be a real improvement compared to the 2litre 4 banger in the rocky. As for the 1.6 BMW, the specs are almost identical, so other than a nice interior/exterior trim it's no real improvement. I'd stick to the jap

And just to add to the name confusion, The Rocky (Aussie version) same body shape as the 2nd pic of the freeclimber (I've never heard of them either, interesting) is called a Rugger in New Zealand, as well as South Africa, and called a Taft, in some parts of Asia.
That second pic is a LWB F75 Body, when originally fitted with the 2.8 Diesel, of the F85 when fitted with the petrol motor.

In continental Western Europe, the f10 up to f65 were also tafts. f70 and up were rockies. Except..... germany called both the taft and rocky Wildcat because Taft is a type of cloth which name is trademarked or something.

Surprisingly, that BMW 6cyl has less torque than an F78 Rocky. It makes 230Nm @ 3200rpm, whereas my Rocky has 245@1900rpm. This is a whole heaps higher and would lose the diesel drivablility.. be worse offroad i reckon.
It does however, produce 29Hp more (but at 4800rpm, where my Rocky has 100Hp@3400). It is a much more revvy motor and sorta defeats the purpose of having a diesel
