Steering Wheel Compatabilities

Post by fishtail »

The steering wheel on my wifes Maverick is totaly stuffed. Does anyone know what steering wheels are compatable with the splines on a 89 Maverick / GQ Diesel 7 seater wagon?

Cheers

I have a steering wheel off a Pulsar SSS (gotta good for an extra 10hp I reckon). I think the model number is N14 pulsar. I paid abit extra cos it is a SSS, think it was about $80, where as a normal pulsar wheel is closer to $50. But is much better than the after market ones which are about $200 for a cheap good one.

Also the pulsar wheel is slightly smaller in dia. But not to small that you cant read all the guages.
And they are straight swap. All you need to do is pull the fuse for the Horn first. It dosent need to be done to remove the Patrol wheel, but the pulser must earth the horn button different.

When removeing, undo the nut most of the way. So when you yank on the wheel and pull it side to side it doesent end hitting you in the head (and no I didnt do this I was warned first). As they are tight.

From memory the n14 Pulsar started production in the early 80's & there still in production (I think) Do you know what year models the n14 covered?

Yeah... but dunno if they did in N14. N13 did..

BTW N13 = 1985-1990 and N14 = 1991-1996 ish. May not be exact but give you an idea.

Probably find a few compatible Nissan steering wheels.

Wouldnt have a clue. As this was the only wheel they had. As I would have been happy with saving $30 and just gettting a std pulsar one. But this one is bound to make the car go faster.

I guess if the wheel was red - it would go even faster again!

OK - given this is a Ford Maverick - any ford branded alternatives would also be of interest?
