Factory Poojero welding #$%*

Factory poojero welding up 2 Shite.

A dude I work with has got 1 n I had to do a bit repair welding to his rear axle housing. Not up to speed on poojero models Y u ask cause there poojeros anyway i can tell u that it is the early square shape its got a v6 (i think ) N has rear coils .
The F$%ka had split from the top side of the pumpkin(or centre on the right side) across bout 4'' s along a weld then down n round where the axle tube gets welded on.
It had actually separated bout 2mm aswell . Once i had a look i couldnt fu#$in beleive it it was bout 1'' n half away from being cracked right round which im sure would of been deadly!!!!
It was then i saw that it may of started from the tube itself not the centre, cause the v prep on the tube was clearly visible bout 4 to 5 mm my geuss is wen they were factory welded it wasnt setup correctly and has only just got it n was not nearly enough for structual strenght .
Although it has lasted 4 quite a few years (really fu@#ed if i know how it was that bad).
I just hope my welding lasts cauase it dont make easy welding with oil pissin out but seemed ok in da n.
I geuss this dude will be the first 2 know

Yes the axle tube has been known to crack on early V6 coil spring versions but mainly due to exceesive load carrying.
The Ralliart prepared vehicles are all gussetted along the top of the axle tubes, later models were strengthened from the factory.
Mitsu were in their experimental phase with the early V6's (88-91) and there were numerous combinations of gearboxes, axles etc tried. After 92 the drivelines were all pretty much the same. I've spoken to wreckers who have had this model with 4 cylinder rear diffs and axles and late 4 cylinder models with V6 diffs and axles...............................

A few years ago, a bloke I was working with did a ground up restoration on an early hilux. when it was all stripped down you could see how all of the welds along the chassis were perfect, beautiful welds, but they had all missed the actual joint by about 15mm. Some machine/robot thingie obviously wasn't calibrated right or something because every weld had missed by exactly the same amount. Don't know how it never fell to peices??

Wendle this is just like the 4runner frame i have it has a heap of welds that look perfect but when you look close they have totaly missed the join. My mate also has one that the RH chassie rail came away from the front crossmember for the same reason. These are both '86 models and i have checked my '93 but it is all ok.
