HI Guys -
This is my wife's stock Zuk and I plan to spruce it up a bit....
I want to fit 31's.....
Whats the best way to get the springs, shocks, wheels and tyres for less than 1K???
Anyone got any of these bits for sale?
Also looking for some decent buckets...
Assume for 31's I need to do a bodylift and spring lift? Any advice on where to get the bits and pieces? I am OK with the tech side, no worries there as I used to have an LJ80 10 yrs ago with 33s. Just need some advise on best approach and parts for the sierra....
Im in Melbourne BTW....
Thanks!

The OL for sale section should be your best friend
Also have a read through some zook build ups on here and look at what they did. If your 1000 includes the price of 31's and rims, then you won't get much with whats left
Clean little car though

i payed $50 for 2 inch body lift and 2 inch shackle lift
and fitted 30x9.5 motorway muds onto my standard rims for $400, and my tyres measure the same as 31 BFGs. Now thats cheap, but has everything the bought kits have.p

Second that!
And, on the topic of factory/stock Sierra rims can anyone confirm the correct size of these ? are they in fact 15 x 5.5? Ive seen them stated as being 15x6 inch.... (and my boyfriend thinks they are 5 inch wide!!)

I just spent -
$150 2" front king springs
$200 2" rears
$300 Rancho 5000s
$500 15x7 rims (s/h) and 30" motorway muddy retreads.
Which is $1150 all up. I only bought lifted springs because mine are cactus, otherwise I would have cut it or body lifted it.
Hey OldGold, how are the Rancho's going on your lifted springs? Im thinking of the same shocks for mine but want some feedback from anyone who has used them. I'm looking for a shock that is a softer ride but not slop!
I've set myself a bit of a similar budget but have already got a 2inch lift on my coiler so here is what i intend to do / Already have done
Rocklobster gearing
$150 for Xfercase - Already purchased
$200 to get gears joined
might be some more expenses here but not sure
Body Lift
$20 for blocks
(engineering shop i bought the metal off let me use their equipment too machine the blocks including taping the relavent blocks)
$10 for the bolts
Rims and Tyres
Still looking for some 31's on 15x8 rims but have seen sets with reasonable rubber for between $300-$400
Tube Front Bar
Don't know about price but considering making one as i have access to all the necessary equipment through work

i have standard rims and could only go up to a 215/75 BFG's
mines a 95 zook tho, older maybe different
i need a new set of springs, any suggestions, i was thinking of just doing the rears to start with, a 2" lifted set, if i do this do i need to get new shockies, mine are standard as they are, as are the springs.

Not sure, because I haven't put them in yet. Was bloody hot today and I couldn't be bothered. I'll let you know how they go if you want when I'm done.

Yeah that would be cool, let me know how they ride.... I've heard they are still a little stiff for Sierra's but I can't understand why having read up on them with positive website reviews. I don't want to replace the same type of shock i have now because they are pretty damn crap. Although they have been on a while now and i don't think they have much compression or rebound left!
yep my 9.5 inch wide mudders are on standard rims, fit fine, i even air down to 8psi most trips away.
i have also flipped my rims eg, inside out, to give me close to f100 offset, no negative effects yet. and its free

ive got rancho's in the front of my sierra and they make a huge difference. before the ride was really bouncy but now if i set them on soft most of the bounce is gone and i almost never set them to hard unless i wanna annoy the missus
ive also relocated the rear upper mounts inward and are using Triton factory shocks. i used some 40mm box and cut & drilled out new mounting holes and bolted it on to existing mounts. Can be totally removable and put back to stock.

hey B4T, are they the adjustable Rancho 9000's? have you got any pics so i can see the set up of rears as well?? And, what model factory Triton shocks did you use?
Hey does anyone want to see the wonderful effects of salt air ?? LOL

Da Zook wrote:i think that means u take the wheel off and face it inwards.,... i think
Yeah that sounds about right and a logical explanation! Going by Spikes photos they still look like they're the right way around? I didn't think these rims had much offset anyway but then again I don't know a great deal about it, yet
Da Zook wrote:the thing that got me thinking was the valve.... if it was flipped wouldnt the valve be inside..... or am i far from my right in what he means by flipped wheels???
He would've drilled new holes for the valves, and flipped wheels does mean they're reversed/inverted/whatever as I just asked my boyfriend who knows a bit more about it than me LOL!!
The whole rig looks a bit deceiving in the pics as the 9.5" Motorways look a bit narrow but when you see them alongside the stock tyres you can see the difference! Still I'd like to see them alongside BFG's MT's for a better comparision.
Spike! Let's see some offroading action pics !!!
yes thats correct, all i did with the rims was take the nuts off turn the rim around and put them back on. the nut holes are tapered on both sides so it centred the wheel again. and yes the valves are on the inside, which is a bit of a bugger, but i get much more offset, so i dont mind.

they are the standard 205/75/15's next to the 30x9.5's big difference. they are a little skinny then i would like, but any bigger and i would need more power, and skinnier is better in the mud, mine measure the same as a BFG 31 anyway no bush pics at the moment, i keep forgetting to take the camera

Did you have them with stock, lifted springs, or SPOA or anything?
In what way were they so bad and what are you using now (OME ??)
Very interested to know more details !!
