Toyo v8 in GQ

I cant see why use go to that trouble, you can get a 308 red motor from a wreckers for less then $500 and put a 330 to 360 strocker kit through it. Then you can get the adaptor for your manual gear box or if you want auto, the tri-matic to turbo adaptor is much cheaper. Then you have best of both worlds, a strong motor with pleanty enough horses and torque and the advantage of effortless part finding anywere in australia. Plus it would cost around the same. Sorry a little more, not much cause you can pick the gas conversions up second hand anywere.
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)
Camshaft1 wrote:Why cris would you want to disgrace all patrols around the country by putting a toyota donk in it. Would you put a gen 3 in a falcon? Ofcourse you bloody wouldnt its just as ur name says LUDICRIS! Turbo the TB42, put in a diesel, put in a injected 454 in it. just dont go Toyota!
Gen 3 in a falcon or vice versa hasn't been done but what about all the chev engines in ford body hot rods, whats the go there.
dosen't discrace the ford now dose it.

Guts wrote:Then you don`t have quad cams, 32 valves, FULL yes FULL alloy motor, 6 bolt yes count them 6 bolt mains, and motor that will rev to about 7000rpm in stock form.
Why would you want to rev to 7000 rpm in a 4wd. I just don't see why this is such a good point for some people. Idealy you want all your power down low so the fact that you can rev to 7000rpm pointless (just bragging rights). I also believe they have a forged steel crank and other steel bits , just being picky . I don't doubt there reliability, strength and power but unless you've got super reduction gears those high revs are pointless. A single cam OHV motor that only revs to 4000rpm but gives its usable power from 750rpm up would be much more useful in my opinion. The number of cams and valves really just make people feel special.
Hey GQ TROL I want some of that 1200ft/lb of torque have they got any spare as I imagine you would only really need about 300-500ft/lb to get them moving. I could really use a couple 100 extra ft/lb for my 18R.
Congratulations Skootin for your selective reading skills.....if you took the time to read the entire thread you would have noticed this bit --->> "I accept that torque and HP figures are often mis-represented...but all these trucks used the same dyno machine all on the same day so the figures are atleast relative to each other." Hell, on the same day a mates GQ with an injected LT1 (the one Cris was probably thinking of) dynoed 2200ft/lbs just before the dyno shut itself down. We know the figures aren't strictly correct, but they're RELATIVE to each other FFS!!!
Yet another thread turned into a pissing contest!

The main reason I looked at other motors and finally decided on the toy V8 is I can`t farking stand Holden shit, I wouldn`t put a Holden motor in if it was given to me, well I nearly did since I had a V6 given to me but now I`m farking glade its still sitting on the floor in the shed, the bloody pos.
Now just to set things straight I`m not a fan of putting other make motors in to cars/4x4s either, but sometimes it does make sense.

IMHO it doesnt really make shit difference. If its what you want, then just shoehorn the Cookie in there.. who cares if its a Buick, Holden, ford, chev, or bedford?
what models and types of after market ecus will go on the 1UZ.
I am guessing you cant just buy any, even off a four cylinder.
Or with the right connections and re-programmimg\tune, will any ecu fit.
Might seem like a silly question but I have never looked into AM ECUs...
