1600 head on a 1300 block
Just a guess but i figured the the 1600 & 1300 heads were nearly identical, the changes are usually in the bore or the stroke to increase capacity. Therefore, for example if the 1300 had a bore of say 50mm and the 1600 of around 54mm then the difference is that the combustion chamber of the 1600 head would have a larger surface area and therefore incompatible with the 1300 block

As far as i know you can put the 1600 on the 1300 but yes it will drop the comp a touch ,aperantley you can put the twin cam head on the 1600 as well of course you have to do a bit of mix and match but can be done.most of the difference between the 1.3 n 1.6 is stroke , looking at both motors next to each other you will see the 1.6 is actually about 1" taller in the block hieght.,
I use a 1300 head on a 1600 block. It has 1600 exhaust valves and 1300 intake (1600 exhaust valves are bigger) Kept the 1300 inlet valves as the guy building the head for me reckoned it would be better for low end torque .. I will take his word for it ..
AFIK the only real difference between the 1600 and 1300 heads is the size of the valves. I picked up a tiny bit of compression swapping mine, but that may be due to a few reasons, 1. The new head had been shaved to ensure it was square, it had new valves etc in it so there would be very little pressure lost through leakage (One of the reasons I swapped heads in the first place)
