Plans for sliders, Hilux DCab

Post by Milamber »

Hiya All,

Does anyone have a set of plans for fabricating some sliders from 2.5 inch tube? I would like to make a set for my 95' Dcab Lux for protection and for use as steps.

Thanks and Cheers, any suggestions would be great.

Hi Mate, i have plans but nothing on paper. It may be cheaper if we get 2 set smade up together. Sort of woth the fab joints/pesons time if you know what i mean.

I'm thinking, 3 mounts on Chassis (not sure how to mount yet - either weld or clamp or preferabble weld on a plate then tap into it and bolt on. Similar to Snake racing mounts i believe) with straight arms to main bar running just under the sill and level with the outside profile of the car, then a step section with curved ends mounted to main bar and supports between it and the main bar in a couple of places down the lenght, kicked up on an angle to protect sills so that the door clears them by about 10-15mm (i'm guessing it would be about 30-40 degree angle up from main bar).

What does everyone think, any takers for fab? i dont have the time or welding expertise to take this on. Any advice or help in building appreciated.

What do you think Milamber? :D

Your ideas sound good, I think I'll go for the clamp on mounts. I am really looking for details (actual plans, measurements etc) of some that someone else has made. This should make the job a little easier. I am a decent welder but always seem to get things a bit wonky went I fab them without clear cut plans.

I am also getting quotes on getting some made, I think most of the 4WD places that stock/fab them are ummmmm a little over the top price wise for a few lengths of pipe and a couple of u bolts.

We all use IHFBN Plans.

In Head Fly By Night Plans, unless you can find the scrap of metal we drew on when planning, postage will kill you though.

 I use heavy stuff, don't lose it that way. :)
