Anyone using the swiss army munufactured numatic beadlocks , and if so how do the compare to weld on bead locks.
i also have seen an aussie made version being distributed through my local ARB store, any feed back greatfull. as the price is very good and they are also street legal opprox $ 199 each.

I used Tirelocs (pneumatic bead lock - Swedish Army) to be street legal, but no practical experience with weld-on bead locks so I can't compare.
Don't know anything of any Aus made versions- $199 each sounds like a bargain. Roger Smith (Beadlock Australia (03) 9876 1511) imports Tireloc. I found Roger was a great guy to deal with.
With my rims it was a pain to get the valve flap to seal properly - the edge of the valve hole in the rim was too close to curved part of the bead.

I run the old fashion beadlocks - and find em fine - except the road legal bit....but then again neither are the swampas so who cares....Oh yeah balancing can be a pain - but then yet again the swampas aren't the best either....
As for the internals - I had a look at the Aussie variant at the recent 4x4show in Sydney....Apparently these are a better design then the swedish Tirelok, especially in regard to the valve setup/accomodation.....

well i run nomal external bead lock rims and i recon there good not only do the strengthen your rim but u sure know they are working coz if there not you have a flat

I love my alloy bead locks, I run between 0 and 4 in the rear and 2 to 4 in the front in comps and around 18 on the road. Never had any probs and they are strong. I put my own tyres on and off as bolting the ring on and off makes it EZ.

My rig isnt that heavy and with a large sidewall they dont need any more, also they dont feel any different with more air anyway.
Also I couldnt be stuffed putting any more in, It takes a while to go from 0 to 18 with an ARB and 42" Swampers. When I get some time I will do an aircon air pump.

Im making a habit of just making it to the Simex. Last year I ran the cam in on the new motor 20 min's b4 the start. This year Im still waiting on coils for the coilovers, exhaust tomorrow and splash some paint on the guards and bonnet.

Big benefit of the external beadlocks? I have 4 rims & 5 tyres...I simply carry the spare and I know if I ever tore a sidewall I can fairly quickly swap the tyre....so it's a damn side cheaper than having an extra rim (plus the small esky can fit inside)....
BTW my rims have a sticker advising not to inflate over 20PSI - but I find the 36" on the TJ only really needs about 18PSI - remember its the volume of air that holds the weight not the pressure....
