winch bars whats the differance between them and bull bars
can anyone tell me what i have to do to convert a tjm bull bar to suit the fittment of a warn 8000lbs high mount winch ive cut the top of the bar so that the winch fits in but dose the front plate have to be strenghtend to cope with the winch any info about it would be great as i dont want to have to pay for another bar
My TJ ARB bumper was modded to suit a himount. To make it fit:
Top hole was significantly increased,
Most of the lowmount cradle base was cut away,
Vertical sheet of ¾" plate was welded to the remainder of the cradle and the bar itself to form the forward mounting face for the himount,
The hoops needed to be clearanced with a hammer,
the rear section of the bar was removed to allow the winch to be fitted - and so a new peice was made to bolt back in once the winch was mounted in the bumper.....
Worst thing is I can only fit/remove the winch when it's off the rig and it's bloody heavy now

would definatly strenghten front plate of bar !!!!
early ARB bars only had single "skin" , & if you look around fairlead bolt holes , you will most likley see cracks !!!!
later bars have a twin skin , to overcome this fault !!!!
