Holden V6 engine numbers location and explanation.

Post by brett43au »

Hi I just bought a Rodeo with VP comodore motor in it . Does any one know where the engine number is on a VP motor. The Rego has a number of VH 1088340 but the only number I can find on the block under the water pump is 25533496.
Any help is apreciated.

ah ha! this is right up my alley. 25533496 is a casting number (similar to a part number) on the timing cover. the VH number is the engine number.

If I remember, I will try and find out what car it came from for you tommorrow.

the engine number should be under the head on the right hand side of the front ofthe motor. can be a bitch too see, had to pull my radiator out to get the numbers once as I had washed the paper with the numbers on it after installing the motor.

Thanks sorry to ask what may be a dumb question but on the right side under the power stearing pump or on the right side when looking at the front of the motor from the front of the car.
Thanks.

Its on the right side of the motor looking at the front. Its actually on the front of the motor. Its pretty hard to see. It is not a cast number. Its stamped with lots of little dots. I believe VH is actually a VS engine number, but I may be wrong.

My VS had a VH number also. Consider me corrected.

As quoted in the parts computer.

No luck finding the particular car the engine is from, must be too old for our system.

All n/a V6's have a VH prefix, upto VY.

All supercharged V6 are VS prefix.
