They will fit and wont look out of place, The early GQ utes came out with the MQ interior..... So it wont look out of place at all.....You will need to change the grill as the Gq is wider and maybe your bullbar if you have one for the same reason as the guards have that flared section...........

If I recall - I just had an early GQ ute with MQ panels - the door windows were different but otherwise..... not that far off.

GQ guards do bolt up along the skirt panel and the rear lower edge but you have to fit a GQ grill to meet the flared arch the problem with this is that the headlamps mount in a differant spot and the clip mounting points for the grill are differant. Have only had to do one with square headlamps ended up keeping the square lamps(had to cut out the GQ grill) and made brackets to mount the grill could of cut the rad support panel and mounted round lamps bit of a sh#t of a job but could be done. Not sure how far out early MQ round lamps are to GQ grill. Sorry. What year MQ have you got? If you have round lamps line up a GQ grill and see how far out they are if they line up the job may be not so bad. You will still have to play with the grill to make it fit.
early GQ utes had a very similar look to the MK including flat guards not the flared ones......
MK Guards don't stick out as much and would have less issue offroad but will have to run a larger flare.....better option in my opinion......when in a rut you won't have to worry about dragging the guard will you won't with MK guards but GQ guards will cause MK Axles aren't as wide...
Also a lot of work as other have said just to cover tyres....
Easier to buy a GQ in the long run and not build a look-a-like

not looking to build a look alike, will be bying a cab and will need doors and guards, Have already lined them up so thats that, but i take your point, I just dont realy like the look of huge flares, I have standard ones atm and they just cover the tyres i am runing, and i want to run more ofset.

Yea ive got gq gaurds on and early mq ute.
The gaurds i used are the flared leaf cab ones, its really not a hard or expensive job.
The leaf cab gaurds are different to the coil gaurds in that the wheel arch is further forward.
The headlights on the gq are about an inch lower and an inch or two closer together than the mq. - helps when you've got a body lift and an mq bar as the light line up better.
You'll need the gq grille as previously mentioned, as the flared gaurds are cut at the front to accept this grille i.e. indicators at the side.
All that needs to be done is to modify the headlight panel so that the lights line up with the new grille, just remove the head lights and brackets, make a template of the hole they came from, clean up the area, get some steel sheet - 1 peice for each side, use cardboard to make a template on where to cut(my replacement panels hold the front/bottom of the gaurd in place, then fit the grille, work out where u want the lights, cut the holes, drill holes fore adjusters and springs and away you go!!
Also the headlights need to be swapped from left to right as mq and gq grilles have the adjusters in opposite spots.
only other thing a bit dodgy is the indicators on gq sit behind the uprights on the mq bar, if i get pinged i'll just cut some into the bar like new cars have

I ve recently finished converting my GQ series 1 ute to the newer guards. It was really easy to do and only needed a few small mods. I had 3 inchs taken out of the front of the wheel arch to give the 35s room to breathe. One of my mates completed the same converson but to his mq and it was almost as simple, both look realy good.

I fitted the gq gaurds to my mk ute , I had to elongate the holes were they bolt up across the top. As I wanted to keep the mk grill and headlights I done a cut and shut on the guard, using the front part of the mk guard where they bolt to the front apron and around the grill . It did take a few hours of measuring making a template and cutting and welding, a few people have commented some like some don't
