Cheezy had just finished a 4 Runner today (5 link front) and they put it on the ramp the front flexed awesomely. The standard rear ran out of travel way before the front.

Are you using bushes at both ends of the trailing arms or are you using a hemi or mog/bollocks joint?

Any binding??

Chris they are standard GQ bushes on both ends of each of the links, no bind whatsoever we have checked that a million times.

Ok Ang & Phil some pics of the long range tank.
The base is 4mm thick (double skinned) and the sides and top are 2mm.
Capacity is 140 litres and the mounts were modified to suit a 2" body lift so it sits about as high as it can. The clearance is WAY better than with the standard tank.

Nice pics, still teasing us tho :roll: :lol: Nice work on the fuel tank. You have alot of write ups to do. I like the angled shocks too.

Your right, your Pajero isnt that much higher than it used to be, but i'm sure you've got alot more wheel travel :shock:

BTW Frank, all that work, suspension, sliders, TJM, winch, tires, fuel tank and still have the factory rear bumper. Time to upgrade my friend ;) Keep up the good work, cant wait to see the "action" pics. :cool:

Thanks for the pics Frank. Say, do you see any reason on that thing why ARBUSA would be giving us the runaround saying it wont fit due to opposite driver's side issues??

Is your tank filler on the right hand side?

Frank: Is that LRA tank modified to fit higher? Like is the tank shaped differently, or have you fitted spacers to lift it up a bit?

Yep a rear bar is in the pipeline this year sometime.
A 2" body lift is a good mod, allows 35" and gives extra clearance underneath to work on stuff. You can tuck the exhaust right out of harms way and the rockers are higher up.

Yeah I think the fuel fillers are on opposite sides thats maybe why ARB are hesitant.
The LRA tank is their standard design for a Pajero but the mounts on mine were lowered 2" so the tank sits higher. I'm very happy with the result there is heaps more clearance than before and I have 48ltr of extra fuel capacity :D

Is the gear shifter shortened when you do a body lift? Thinking about it now, cause i'm redoing the frame in the front and making it the right size for the ARB. I might just go ahead and extend the frame 2 inches higher. Or maybe not. we'll see

Also, the tank looks awesome! Does all the factory stuff work with the new tanks. Does the fuel gauge still work as it did before.

Yeah see, our filler is on the same side. ??? I'm afraid this might be what to me would appear to be another case of ARBUSA - too cool to deal with the Mitsu crowd. :cry:

Looks like I'll just have to get my buddy to put one on his next container out of Oz. :twisted:

I'm not 100% sure of your question but are you refering to the diff and axle sizes and dimensions ??
Both Carl and I have Toyo Bundera LJ70 front diffs and axles.
They are a 8" diff and the axles are 30 spline 33mm diameter.
My rear diff is the Mitsu 9" with 28 spline 30.5mm diameter axles.
I think Carl has fitted a 3.5V6/2.8TDI rear diff to his which is a 9.5" diff with 31 spline 33.5mm diameter axles.

No....oooo FRANK,
I meant the upper & lower links(bars-diameter) that connected the axlehousing and the frame to locate the axle front-to-back and side-to-side.
Sorry if I wasn't accurate!

By the way... as far as I know(according to our market-I can get pictures for that), the lj70's front diff comes with leaf springs
and the lj78's with coil springs(newer model) both 8"diff...
Correct me if I'm wrong Frank!

I think you better go check your montero again cause my fuel filler is on the driver side and that is the left hand side of the truck and my buddies 94 is also on that side so unless in 95 they changed sides on us, your outta luck on the tank. sorry dude.

Their looking at it now.
They have 2 axles that I gave them that the splines have been twisted so are no good to me.
The full floater set up may end up being too expensive it is possible but a kit form to bolt up to a Paj may prove too expensive.
The other option is to cut new axles out of better material and attach them to existing hubs or newly machined hubs.
The problem with the 3.0 V6 axles is that they neck down in 2 places to the spline, it is the thinner splined section that twists off and breaks. The axles will be cut the same diameter as the spline right through to the wheel bearing. This allows the whole axle length to twist absorbing the load instead of just the short splined section.
The 3.5 V6 axles only neck down once to the splined section which is much thicker (31 vs 28 spline) so these are much stronger thats why no-body breaks these. We also looked at resplinning the 3.0 V6 ARB locker side gears to accept the 3.5 V6 axles but there just ain't enough meat there plus the 3.5 V6 axles are longer.

the 3.5 axles, even 2mm dia is a large cross sectional increase.
