Hey all,
I have done a lot of reading on this stuff but I am unable to find the info I need.
Does anyone know if the standard air con pump on my 92 diesel is suitable for endless air compressor duties?
I will get the model number but it is a sanden of some sort.
If not is there any particular pump that will bolt up to the same mounts of the motor?
I no longer have aircon (dont use it) so am going to convert if possible to endless set up.

suitability of nissan aircon pump for endless air?
the compressor u have is an SD508 sanden pump.
i think ull find that the Edless air pumps are the same but modified and will bolt up to ur motor brackets.....
If u want to modify the one u have, all u have to do is run a tool oiler in the inlet for lubrication and a air / oil seperator in the outlet and feed it back into the oiler so u get constant lubrication....
as the refrigerant in the system is wat previously lubricated it...

I was just curious if the pump that is on my truck would do the job.
I did some research and it appears the pump is one for the new r13a or whatever it is. The better gas for environment. Model number is sd7h15.

i've had my aircompressor converted on my ute .... will prolly cost u around $300 to get it done

The DIESEL KIKKI type aircon compressor as fitted to some Patrol aircon systems pumps very well--better than the Sanden 508 BUT due to its internal design, suffers badly when using it as an air compressor. It has small oil jets internally and an inbuilt oil pump to keep the internals lubricated. There are no needle roller bearings internally--it uses oilways to keep shafts and swashplate lubed. It only has a small reservoir and will run very hot and eventually sieze up.
The SANDEN 508 has the same mounting bracket dimensions and has the added bonus of being able to clock the cylinder heads if clearance is a problem--ie mounting underneath the ALternator on a TD42. It uses needle roller races for the swashplate and is well suited to running on grease instead of oil for aircompressor applications.
