Wanted: shocks for 7" GQ front
I have a GQ with a 7" lift in the front and I am looking for a pair of front shocks. Measurements should be about 680 extended and 450 closed. If you know anyone that is selling these, please call me URGENTLY.

cant be half as bad as ranchos though
your best bet would be to use somthing out of a 80series i.e. 6" koni shocks from an 80series and modify your shocker tower
or u could use OME l series

you say the rancho's r too short?
....then u obviously dont have the right ones in there for the amount of lift that u have
and they dont articulate???
then thats your set-up
get the right shocks to suit , and if need b , pin to eye adaptors for the ends
dont just expect the standard shock for that model vehicle to b the right setup for a modified vehicle
you have to think about what u need and set it up accordingly

why would you think that I would want to go with a smaller lift? I am asking anyone with shocks for my lift if they have them second hand or whatever?
And what is wrong with running 33s? I don't do 10,000ks like some guys that can run 37s all year. I do over 30,000ks in this car p.a. and think that 33s are a good compromise. Got anything constructive to add?

Nothing at all wrong with 33s. I agree with you whole heartedly on the good compromise thing..
Trying to figure out why you need such a big lift for such small tires. thats all I'm getting at. I used to have similar lift with 33's it looked fukin stupid!
All I'm sayin its easier to find shock/spring match for smaller lifts since not many non comp people run 7in lift, cause they just dont need it.
Something constructive, is your car legal with the 7in lift?

Andrew try these RUFF put me on to them munroes LTL 9000 Part no 66863 450mm compressed to 680 mm extended. hope that helps BTW shold be able to piock em up under $100 each.

I just couldn't see what you were getting at. Horses for courses I guess. Some ppl think that 17" rims look good on the new falcon, mine had to have 19" rims before I thought it looked good. Some ppl think that you have to have 37s to look good, I find that (as you mentioned) the 33s are a good compromise for the grip, amount of bush work (every fortnight at least) price and look.
I'll be buggered if I am gonna waste a set of 37s on freeway work (like I said, over 30,000ks a year) and at the moment I don't have room to scratch myself in my garage...
I like the lift cos it has the ability to crawl anywhere (notwithstanding the current dilema) and seems pretty stable.
I don't have too much of a issue finding the right gear for the lift, but I have heard different things about the TDs lately and that's what I primarily want, but I thought that if I could find something s/h in the meantime, that I would wait for the jury to come back with a verdict on the TD issues...

Q. What does a 7inch lift with 33's achieve???
A. More clearance under the chassis & body than a 5inch lift with 33s.
Legalities wise, my Mav is engineered and listed with the RTA with a 7inch lift and 33's — the RTA approved engineer could cover the coil lift but couldn’t approve a tyre size increase above the standard max of 15mm (or whatever it was) over std. He could engineer it with 35's for 'off road use only' so that is what I went with.
Basically, it has more chance of being legal with 33's and a 7inch lift than with 37's and a 5inch lift — at least that was the impression that I got when I got my rig certified about 7 year ago, who knows what has changed since then.
Another thing, for rock crawling I wasn’t happy with the 4.1 ratio and 35's until I got the crawler gears in. If I only had stock gearing I would probably stick with 33's off road as well.
As an on-road/off-road compromise I don't think this combination is as silly as some people are making out — it just looks a little silly!
As soon as it was made idiot proof, someone went and designed a better idiot.
