hi
sorry about all the questions - search didnt yeild anthing useful...
a friend of mine was thinking of getting a Delica but given its probably comprised of a fair few unique parts [for australia] it could be a pain if anything gets damaged...
so this is the new plan: buy a reasonably straight L300 or starwagon with a shagged engine and whack a 2.8L pajero turbo diesel in. Would the engine bolt up or would adaptor plates and changes to the mounts be required...would it fit?
has this been done? would a budget of 7K [say 2k for the wagon and 5k for a frontcut/engine, engineering & other conversion costs] be reasonable given we should be able to do most of the labour?
cheers
Tim

2.8L pajero engine into an L300?

Wow thats a big job...........................
The 2.8TDI's have the bigger Paj 3.5V6 running gear so gearbox/t/case etc are all bigger and different.
Maybe an easier approach would be a 2.8 diesel from a Triton which should bolt up to the 4 cylinder running gear of the L300 and then turbo it. You would want to check out a Delica and see how the factroy install looks.
I thinks it's certainly doable but would need a lot of custom work (brackets etc) as for price it's hard to say but these things tend to go over budget if anything unless you can do the majority of work yourself.
