Body Lifrt gear Levers

Post by davo250 »

i have a 2" body lift in my 92 GXL Landcruiser 80 Series Manual. The rubber boot keeps pulling it out of gear in 1st and 3rd, and out of low range. What have you guys done to over come this?

take the gearstick off, and weld a 2" bit of steel to it then re-attach it again. ;)

In my lux i took the thick rubber boot off. But there can be a fair bit of heat coming thru there sometimes, so maybe i should put it back and maybe trim the metal back on the transmission tunnel or heat up the stick and bend it to the right position.

In the bottom part of the shaft, yes.

The other thing is to make sure you do it in a part of the shaft that won't foul or affect anything else etc by weld.

middle of the bottom part ;)
