td42t boost

Post by warthog »

What boost pressures are safe for longevity on factory td42t. Has 3" + dump pipe and safari intercooler. Does 10lb sound about right, can you get any more with factory unit anyway? Car is used as a tourer towing camper so economy is important as well.
cheers.

Thanks mate, hows your fuel economy going? At the moment I am lucky to get 650k to tank=125ltr travelling at 100-110. Have a roof rack on but usually not stacked up high should be better than that I reckon.

I run 12psi and a mate runs 17psi and has done for the past 5 years. Currently up to 300000 odd kays. It's all in the tuning

I have the 4.2 with no intercooler and its set to about 10. Morkz has the same engine with intercooler and has it at 12.

You should be able to run higher boost with an intercooler without sacrificing reliability.
Cheers.......4by.

Just make sure it is set up correctly and you will be fine. ie more boost = more fuel and have the timing calibrated as well.
