Reading that, it sounds like you have your positives & negatives back to front??
Too much caster can have the same effect as not enough caster.

headfuck, isn't it?? Imagine rolling a long, skinny cone along its edge, the movement at the open end is much more than the point. Not entirely the same maths, but similar..
