Having a change of thought on the direction I am heading with my rangie. Therefore am considering selling the following -
All from 85 Rangie
Turbo 400 to LT230 Case 1:1 High (including case and shifters) No Turbo 400 included.
Moded tailshafts to suit above
Rear Flat bottomed housing disc to disc, with MacNamara Hypoid (4.7 Ratio but any std hilux gearset can be interchanged) Centre. Modified 28 Spline Maxidrive to suit MacNamara centre. Gearset has done only about 10,000 k but prior to changing this set up has done about 40,000 km with no problems, beats the 15,000 kay record of a rover crownwheel in the rear. Also spare flat bottomed housing.
Front Bottomed Housing Disc to Disc 4.7 Rover Centre no locker. 24 Spline HD (not MacNamara) Axles. All you need is a 24 Spline Airlocker.
PM serious offers. All can be test driven prior to pulling it apart.

I think it would be a worth while swapping in nissan axles. For a stock axle they are very strong - probably the strongest stock axle out of toyota, nissan, rover etc
Now the thing is that a toyota front axle, IMO, with longfields is alot stronger axle than a GU front diff and much better at handling fatigue loads. What I have seen longfields cope with is amazing (actually unbelievable how strong they are especially when you look at how weak a stock one is). IMO strength for strength a Nissan CV doesent come close to a hilux Longfield.
There are a few guys around that are trying to heat treat the nissan CV but so far I havent seen anything that comes close to a Longfield.
If it was me I would be swapping in toyota stuff although it is probably only a matter of time before somebody does a longfield type mod on the nissan CVs. A nissan CV is a lot bigger than a toy so this would have to be a good thing.

just bought pair of stock GQ Diffs 4.1 for the right price , Will fit them with my basically stock Rover front suspension. In the rear will triangulate the top arms and move the mounts on the chassis for factory type lower arms. Transfer - looking into Yankee stuff rather than the big dollars for adaptors and low range kits for the nissan stuff, but they are available but cost more than I paid for the Rangie.
Just need to sell what I have now to pay for it.
