Fuel filter not pumping through to injectors

Hi guys.

Everything ran smoothly for our little Bundy TD after a service, and running up 450km's to Croajingolong. Even did about 130 odd km's of track driving from one magnificent beach to another.

Then on the last day (yesterday) prior to departure for Melbourne, I thought I'd start her up to warm up for the heavily loaded 6 hour drive home. She didn't want to start... battery was fine, fully juiced, 1/2 tank of fuel, cranking over nicely, no start.

Tinkering around, we realised there was no fuel getting to the engine. So we undid the fuel filter knob, unplugged the hose, cranked it, realised no fuel, then manually pumped it through till fuel squirted out, then replugged, did it up, and fired up second go. No trouble since.

Was it an air bubble? The filter housing not drained and primed after changing the filter at service? If the latter, it should have happened sooner rather than some 600km's later right?

How cold was it down there at Easter? If the fuel is not formulated for cooler conditions then that mey have been your problem. It may have waxed up & blocked the fuel hose.

Another problem which can happen is the fuel lines have become porus causing the fuel to leak back into the fuel tank. The lift pump wont be able to supply fuel until it is primes by the hand pump.

My patrol stopped a Ayeres rock because the fuel was not the correct formulation and there was a frost that morning.
