Hi Guys, My rides are not very confy as I compare it to a friends Gen2 lwb. I am thinking of changing my Shocks to Monroe or Rancho shocks.
Anyone had any experience with this problem?
88 Superwagon LWB,7 seater, 2.6L 4G54 engine, 5 sp,Manuel Hubs, LSD(fitted later).

I wasn't really aware of a bad ride in my Pajero until I installed OME shock absorbers - there was no mistaking the improvement, particularly the front's ability to handle bumps.

Monroe are one of the world's largest manufacturers, and make shocks in all price ranges. Some of the lower priced units are definitely cheap, so be wary of "bargain" units.

I've also heard mixed reviews of Ranchos, mainly the 5000 series. The 9000 series might be better, and definitely dearer. Be aware that factory listings for the Pajero are only rated up to a 1" lift. If you have more lift you can "adapt" other units. Frank and others have discussed this on OL, so try a search if you're interested.

I have Monroes on my NJ lwb, Fronts are ok but the backs are to soft. As soon as you place a load( say 4 people) It gets very bouncy, needs more rebound in the shock. Next time might try the OME.

I have Rancho RS5000s on my 85 Shorty. I love em :D Especially the fact that you can adjust the tightness for different conditions. Only problems I've found are that the adjusting knob on one rear shock (RHS From Memory) Gets bashed a bit. And you've got to get out and reach under the vehicle to adjust them. (next Time I might go for an onboard adjustment system).
I've also given them a fair hiding and no problems at all after almost two years. Would recommend them highly. Tho, they are not for everyone.

I have Rancho 9000's on my Gen 1 LWB. I've had them over a year already. Great improvement in ride. I also like the added benefit of being able to adjust the damper settings for different driving and load conditions.
