i'm putting a new motor im my yuki and wanted to rebuild the old one. was tld that the 1.3's don't like to be rebuilt. is this so???? if so what do i do with the old one????

I don't know why someone would've told you that, although I've never built one. I'm thinking of either taking mine out and rebuilding it or rebuilding another one and putting it in. I'm leaning towards the second option that way I can use the car while I'm building the new one.

You can sell ur old one to me

keep it for spares......

use it as a paper weight........

put it in the bin in pieces.........

don't rebuild it........


or do as I do and put in your parents driveway and listen to them b!tch about it all the time.........

1.3lt engines ovalise the bore......

they have to be bored out way too far and are uneconomical to rebuild

Why on earth would u say that? U could at least give an explanation for why u wouldn't rebuild one

jtraf, if yours is just sitting in your driveway, or acts as a paperweight as you say, then you'd have no problems giving me your one then?

all i've done is break the oil ring in number 4 cyclinder b4 that it was running like a dream. the motor m putting in is better then my old one but if it can be rebuilt for under the going amount of another motor i'd rather have a go of it.

Mine was rebuilt, and hasn't broken yet. Only had about 20,000 on it since but.

you can rebuild a sierra 1.3...

its no different to any other engine...


we get ours rebuilt all the time....and have had no probs with them

THANK YOU MUD4B, thats what I like to hear. At least thats more encouraging that what a couple of other people have been saying. So it's absolutely no different? how about the ovalising of the bores as one guy said, is that even a slight issue? is it even true?

its not a issue... thats why someone desined boring

its gotta be easier than rebuilding 6 or an 8 surely.

Thanks probitch, yeah let me know how it goes I'll rebuilding one shortly. I'm not on these forums much but I'll jump on more frequently. Yes, an engine like this has to be easier than a 6 or 8. I mean come on, it's like the best engine ever to learn on, it's so small it can fit in your pocket, like one guy could carry it no shit. Today I connected a new lead to the starter motor in our XA Falcon. I'm under there contorting my body every which way took half an hour to do it. Suzi's are the best. I can't get over how easy it is to do oil filter changes it's like RIGHT THERE!
