Is 50x75x3mm box sec. ok for sliders?

HI all, giving the buggy some side protection.....is that size ok? is 2mm to thin? or should i go smaller dimension box? Its gonna be welded onto chassis of my rangey buggy...tah

would suggest 4mm wall
